MEDICAL OFFICE IS A FAMILY AFFAIR
-By Bart Horowitz-
If it's good medicine for a family to be close, and it's sensible that it should be, then the Silich family is getting a healthy dose - and countless numbers of other are benefiting.
Dr. Robert J. Silich, a general surgeon in practice since 1974, has moved his Sunnyside office to 1557 Victory Blvd., Castleton Corners, where he now delights in working alongside his family.
"The most beautiful part of the office," Dr. Silich said, "is that my two sons and wife are working here.
Its a family affair and nothing could be better than this."
The surgeons son, Dr. Robert Christopher Silich, a plastic surgeon, whose private practice was inaugurated earlier this year at his other office, in Manhattan, shares his fathers sentiments. "Weve always done everything together," he said of the family. "Now that were all under the same roof, its just great.
Its not only good for us, but the other families the patients get a lot out of it too."
The impressive-looking corner house also is where the general surgeons wife, Dianne, a registered nurse, spends her workdays assisting her husband, and their youngest son, attorney Stephan Silich, manages his brothers medical office and business affairs.
The Silich familys gravitation to medicine and its tradition of working together began shortly after WWII when the elder physicians father, the late Dr. Robert L. Silich, established himself as a general practitioner in Weehawken, N.J., with his wife, Greta, a registered nurse, at his side. Years later, the elder Mrs. Silichs nursing skills proved valuable to her sons medical practice, re-enforcing the commitment to family and strengthening the bonds that now link the three generations.
